This unique feature was made possible thanks to the ingenuity of our architect friend. By strategically cutting a section of the ceiling, they allowed the tree to flourish, bathing the interior in a dappled sunlight that creates a truly intimate connection with nature. Sunlight filters through the leaves, creating a dappled effect that enhances the natural ambiance.
But the true star of the Varsha Suite is the view. The bed is positioned in the center of the room, allowing you to gaze out at the breathtaking panorama of the Panchganga Valley the moment you wake up.
Another unique feature of the Varsha Suite is the presence of a massive “nanger” (plough) adorning one of the walls. This antique piece, gifted by a local farmer from Sadale Madale village, Kolhapur, comes with a fascinating story.
When the villagers learned of my fondness for collecting antiques or old things, one of them called me and offered me the massive plough. He considered it an antique and believed I was the right person to preserve it.
The villager, who was somewhere around 70 or 80 years old, told me that in his youth, he used to carry the plough by himself. It was no easy feat, considering its size. With the same affection he showed me while giving me the plough, I have incorporated it into the suite, determined to honor the sentiment he had for it.
The walls of the Varsha Suite are plastered with natural materials, creating a textured feel reminiscent of traditional village houses. The wooden ceiling panels feature minimalist carvings, reflecting the artistic touch of Maharashtra.
